Artificial Intelligence, in the present, is complex and effective but far from human intelligence. Humans use the data around them and the data accumulated in the past to understand anything and everything. However, AIs do not yet have this capability. AIs are just gigantic dumps of data to erase their goals. This means that AIs need a huge data pool to do something as simple as editing letters.
Data Science is an interdisciplinary field of processes and systems for extracting knowledge or ideas from data in various forms. This means that data science helps AI find solutions to problems by linking similar data for future use. Basically, data science allows AI to find relevant and meaningful information from these huge pools more quickly and efficiently.
An example of this is Facebook’s facial recognition system which, over time, gathers a lot of data on existing users and applies the same facial recognition techniques to new users. Another example is Google’s standalone cars that collect data from its environment in real time and process that information to make smart decisions on the go.
Machine Learning is probably the link between data science and artificial intelligence since machine learning is the process of learning from data over time. However, this is not the only thing that connects these two elements. But, machine learning is the branch of AI that works best with data science.
